In 2004 I graduated from high school excited that it was finally over and ready to relax and move on into the next chapter of my life which would be college. I knew I wanted to move on into higher learning, but I was very reluctant and knew I was not ready. In my mind it didn’t make much sense to move on from school just to go back a few months later. The break in between was not enough time for me to mature into the mind set of college, but I could say this because of the pressure I felt all around me from parents/family, my peers, and even from my father’s place of employment. I’m the first one in my immediate family to go to college, all of my peers are going to college and will get the full college experience, and I have to go to school full time or risk losing my health insurance from my father’s job. Episode 5: Ben Parris
This episode Generation News put on it's detective gear to uncover one of Rochester's best kept secrets! We interviewed music producer Ben Parris, in his top secret music studio. Ben has worked with some of the top artists of the decade including 50 Cent, James Taylor, Tina Turner, and Brittany Spears. We then took our cameras to Freddie Thomas High School where the students of the Hillside Work Scholarship Connection produced their very own episode of Generation News highlighting students at their school. Episode 4: Iron Chef Competition
This episode of Generation News once again showcases some of Rochester's finest youth. We went to the Rochester Fencing Club and took some lessons on how to fence and learn a more about this growing sport. Then we went back to East High School to cover there first annual Iron Chef competition. These chefs along with there "Special" assistants are competing for a scholarship to MCC's culinary institute.

Episode 3: Cody Goodfriend
Come with us as we get in the ring with Cody Goodfriend, a 22 year old mixed martial arts fighter and trainer. At a young age, Cody started his very own Mixed Martial Arts training company. After going a few rounds with Cody, we spent some time at East High School, viewing their Culinary Arts Academy. We talked to them about careers in cooking while they whipped up a tasty treat! This episode is packed with some pretty exciting people that are apart of great programs so stay tuned!
